Still going strong: Blue Rock Resort Hotel on Baloy Beach –
One of the best locations on the Bay…
I kept bumping in to Mick, the owner of Blue Rock, on his weekly Tuesday trips to Angeles City and that gave me a chance to catch up on what’s happening at his property.
He and his team have quite a few things going good for them. A variety of room types and rates give guests plenty of flexibility, and when it comes to getting glutted travellers cannot beat one of the most extensive menus in town. What I like is the simplicity and spaciousness of the resorts airy beach side restaurant - it’s wide-open and bright.
Blue Rock, unlike most other beachside venues, is one of the few places on Subic Bay with a swimming pool, beach access, and a floating bar. The property enjoys one of the best locations in Baloy Beach and views of Subic Bay – and if you’re up for a daytime splash, take a dive off the backside of the floating bar.
Personally, I’m a last minute guy who dashes out of town when my schedule allows for it; therefore, I’m often too late to get a room here – which reminds me to remind you to book a room in advance. No matter where I stay while in Barretto I always find myself dining at Blue Rock, usually for breakfast. I hate the “sorry sir, no stock” routine, and their fresh juice is batting one thousand, to this day I’ve never been let down.
If you’re in the know with anyone from Angeles you’ll likely bump in to a familiar face at Blue Rock. Somehow every time I’m down that way I see someone from around the way.
Coming soon – drone video footage of the floating bar and Baloy Beach.
