After passing up several offers to take up space in the entertainment district from over the years, Bernard Bensimon, the owner of Bretto’s Fine Meat and Deli Shop on Don Juico Avenue, has successfully expanded the Bretto’s footprint to include a location on Walking Street.
This recent acquisition adds a fourth restaurant under the Bretto’s name, along with 2 grocery store + deli combos split between Barrio Barretto in Subic, and Angeles City.
Bretto’s Grill and Sports Bar, formerly known as Paradise Beer Garden, needs only a glance to notice that it’s flourishing. New management has brought in a second pool table, French desserts, a high-end Italian coffee machine, and helped bolster the monthly turn out by running semi-frequent cash billiards tournaments.
Recently, billiards pros such as local legend and World Champion Efren “Bata” Reyes have stopped by to play for fun. On another occasion World 8-Ball champion Nick Hill made an appearance – to that end, it wouldn’t be surprising to see some Filipino celebrities come out to this location one day.
It doesn’t have to be a weekend or major sporting event for the seats to fill up here and this will definitely be one of the best locations to watch Super Bowl 50, airing locally on Monday, February 8th, at 7:30 AM.
In the near future they will be enhancing their menu to include an Arabic selection, which will be put together by a chef from Lebanon. This will go well with the new shawarma stand that will open on their frontage near the Walking Street arch.
While you’re down there having a drink shisha can be smoked for P300, and several flat screens will help keep your eyes occupied if you get tired of people watching. By the way, they have a new promo: From 3 AM until 10 AM, get a P140 breakfast while sipping down local drinks at P55.
