One of the absolute worst days to travel in Angeles City is Valentine’s weekend, when the convergence of the out of town Philippine International Air Show visitors and those local love struck spenders end up on the roads crammed together.
Reports of Manila-like 2-hour waits to travel 5 kilometers were sent in:
“I left ABC Hotel to go to Marquee Mall before 2 PM, and I did not arrive until after 4 PM” said George, an expat who was in town for a holiday. “I’ve never seen anything like it, not in L.A., not in New York – it was brutal. At one point the car didn’t move an inch for 20-minutes. I could have walked to Marquee faster than that.”
This brings to light the fight over the severe gridlock that will take place when the massive Capilion project is finished adjacent to Clark’s main gate. Will the entertainment district and surrounding areas come to a standstill every afternoon, or will it be a constant unavoidable traffic jam?
A word to the wise for all the locals – stay home on Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and of course, Valentine’s Day.
