Dougie Slade might finally be deported from the Philippines.
74 year old pedophile Douglas Michael Slade who has been living in the Philippines for 30 years has been arrested to face historical charges over sexual abuse of young boys in the United Kingdom. A spokeswoman for Avon & Somerset Police in Britain told Balita Pinoy: "We’re aware of reports that a 74-year-old former Bristol man has been arrested by the immigration authorities in the Philippines. We can confirm this man is wanted by Avon and Somerset Police in connection with non-recent sex offences committed mainly in the Bristol area. The offences are alleged to have occurred in the 1970s and 1980s and our investigation currently involves seven victims, who are all now adults. We’re working closely with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, National Crime Agency and Crown Prosecution Service following this latest development." Immigration commission spokeswoman Elaine Tan stated that Douglas Michael Slade was arrested by immigration agents on Wednesday at his home in Angeles City - where he has lived since 1985 and is a permanent resident of the Philippines.
Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents on Wednesday apprehended British national Douglas Michael Slade, a suspected child sex offender in the United Kingdom (UK) and who poses a significant risk to children.
74-year old Slade, a permanent resident in the Philippines, was charged following a letter from the British Embassy saying that he is a wanted sex offender in their country. He was arrested in his home in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Records say that as early as the 1970s, he was linked to a UK activist group called the Pedophile Information Exchange. He has also reportedly molested a 14 year old boy while he was in the UK.
He was likewise arrested numerous times for Child Abuse and Child Pornography in Angeles City. In the mid-1990s, he faced charges involving four children found naked in a swimming pool at his home.
He lived for ten years in Angeles City near a school, making it easy for him to lure children to his home. Allegedly, boys as young as eight years old lined up outside his house and were paid P150 to pose for nude photos and to perform sex acts on him.
He was also re-arrested after indecent images of boys were found in his laptop. Parents of his alleged victims, all under the age of 12, positively identified their children in the photographs, and attested that Slade molested them. A total of five criminal cases were filed against him, all of which were dismissed.
On January 26, he was charged as an undesirable alien by the Bureau of Immigration. He denied the charges and claimed that the accusations against him are “make believe” and is a “magical fantasy”.
“Slade’s reported acts pose a significant risk and threat to children’s wellbeing,” said BI Commissioner Siegfred Mison. “The wellbeing of our children is considered the utmost interest of the State. We will not allow any such corruption of our youth to happen,” he added. Slade was arrested after being found liable for undesirability. He is currently quarantined at the BI Bicutan Detention Facility pending resolution of his deportation case. Ms Tan stated that the arrest comes at the request of the the British Embassy in Manila to face the British child sex abuse charges that date back some 30 to 40 years. A spokesman for the British Embassy told Balita Pinoy that all media enquiries are being handled by Avon & Somerset Police.
Slade has previously been arrested in child sexual abuse and child pornography cases in Angeles but has always been able to buy hi way out of trouble. Slade has denied the charges, stating that they are "make believe" and a "magical fantasy". He is being held at the Bicutan immigration detention center.
Slade, who has had previous sex abuse charges against Filipino boys dismissed before, was arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) last August. The NBI discovered images of minors in provocative and nude poses on his computer when his house was raided and he was subsequently arrested. He subsequently made bail and has been free since. -

Slade moved to the Philippines from the UK in 1985.
He had originally been the secretary of the Paedophile Action for Liberation (PAL) which had developed as a breakaway group from the South London Gay Liberation Front. This group was the subject of an expose by a British newspaper, the Sunday People, in 1975.
After the expose, the PAL merged with another notorious group, the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE). This group then disintegrated in 1984 after several high profile arrests, but not before it had had tacit approval from and had become affiliated to the National Council for Civil Liberties (now known as Liberty). Some previous reports have stated that Slade was a former officer in Britain's Royal Navy, serving as a Lieutenant Commander on the Royal Yacht Britannia.
Checks with the Royal Navy have ascertained that although a man of the same name and age served in the navy from 1963 to 1976, he was never a Lieutenant Commander and never served aboard the Britannia. In fact he served at HMS Pembroke, the shore establishment at Chatham in Kent. A spokeswoman for the Navy confirmed he was discharged in 1976, but would not release details of the discharge, and could not confirm if he was subject to a courts martial.

(For years Ex-Pats here in AC have been wondering how Doug has stayed out of jail or even how he has not been deported. Last year many decided to boycott his "Home base Meat Company". Doug was "persona non grata" in the community. Most knew he was here on borrowed time once Britain signed an Extradition Treaty with the Philippines. Now lets see if he can buy himself out of a British legal system. )
