This much-needed artery combined with the widening of MacArthur Highway should allow the chokepoint near the Mabalacat (Dau) bus terminal to lighten rush hour times, making it more convenient to enter and exit Angeles City by ground.
Traffic near SM Clark has been at a non-Christmas time high. Would-be patrons have been routed in various directions including through the main gate jeepney terminal and the empty dirt lot adjacent to the mall, all the while being barred from turning down certain streets.
During the recent construction a heavily soaked “payday” Friday forced vehicles to experience an hour-long wait to creep less than a few hundred meters. When asked why the roads had turned into a parking lot one traffic enforcer shouted, “in order to solve congestion, you must make congestion” with a wry smile on his face.
This new modern road is expected to be completed in the coming months, and as such, will be built with both proper lighting and sidewalks. Time will tell if it will ease congestion or draw in more vehicular traffic than ever before.
