Unwind With A Few Beers, A Chat, & Some Pub Grub at Barbarino’s
By Jack Catania
Right in the middle of Zeppelin Street between Malabanias Road and Richtofen Street in the very heart of Hensonville, is a spot unlike anywhere else in Angeles City.
There is a saying that “people truly make a place.” Food, beer, and decor are just accents, but they don’t really make a place. After all, you can get food anywhere, and beer everywhere else. It’s the atmosphere and vibe that other people create that keeps people coming back.
Barbarino’s is sort of a home away from home for most. It’s like a communal living room. The plush red leather chairs set the scene for some of the liveliest conversations you can have in town without arguing. Politics, philosophy, economics, religion, and sports are fairly common topics on any given night.
Barbarino’s boasts one of the largest selections of beers in town. There are currently forty-eight total varieties and counting. A personal favorite of mine is the Fullers ESB from London, England. For 145 pesos you get to down what I acknowledge as one of the finest beers in the world.
The varied menu of home cooked "pub grub" served by friendly staff adds a nice touch, and there is enough solid menu options to choose from. When it comes to dining I have two pieces of advice for new guests: try their beef stew and don't argue with Tony!
Barbarino’s is in the center of an up and coming Hensonville area, which has a solid assortment of restaurants and hangouts to choose from. On Zeppelin Street you will find a steakhouse, an upscale spa called Touched By A Rose, a boutique coffee shop that serves the best coffee in town, and a huge garage style restaurant with live music that just opened called Garaje 88.
Just up the street is the Angeles City Country Club with an Olympic size swimming pool, lawn bowling greens, and a nine-hole golf course. Right next door to the country club, Zeppelin Suites is quickly establishing a reputation for quality condo living.
Last July we ran a front-page story titled, “Hensonville, Angeles City – The Next Best Thing.”
Things are definitely looking up!
