Harry The Horse To Get Involved In Charitable Work For Children
We Are Looking To Give Back To The Community And You Might Be Able To Help
The original founder of Harry The Horse, Jim Dale, is well known for his gift giving work while dressing up as Santa Claus near the holidays. We wanted to get involved as well and in keeping with tradition we’ve chosen to do a once-monthly visit to Angeles or Subic area classrooms.
As a part of our monthly routine of circulating the newspapers around the area we retrieve and collect past copies if they have been left on the shelf for too long. Not only does this allow us to see which places are hotspots for advertisers, it also gives us the chance to refine our circulation process to help maximize the exposure of every copy.
Now that we have a stack of used papers building up, we’ve decided to use the raw materials in a rather creative way. Beginning this October, the HTH team will be using recycled copies of our newspaper to create a limited selection of paper mache animals for local school children to paint and put their names on. We will also be giving away paper hats, airplanes, boats, or the like for kids to enjoy. There’s really no age restriction, but we find that children start to lose interest in paper by about age 10 – with the exception of paper planes, which are fun no matter how old you are.
How could you help? Well for starters, it would be great if we could work together to make this happen for your child’s class. Feel free to reach out to us and nominate a teacher or administrator that we could get into contact with. The day of the visit, we only ask that you make an effort to provide the kids with a snack, something like finger foods, pizza, or thereabouts, in conjunction with the activity. It’s a very small price to pay to help sponsor your child’s class for arts and crafts activities, and the kids are bound to have fun in the process.
Our dates and times are open for reservation on a first-come, first-served basis beginning in November. We plan to do our school visits between the 7th and 14th of each month.
