The local Korean community has expressed concern about recent allegations in which a local 22-year-old single mother claimed she was gang-raped by eight Korean nationals.
The Korean community, comprised of more than 20,000 members, stated that they might be stigmatized by the report - which aired on both local and national media.
Reports surfaced that the woman was met by a "Mr. Lee" inside a resto bar in Angeles City. Lee, who appeared before the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Wednesday, stated that the gang rape report was untrue.
His story reflected that the girl, who he met on the social media app WECHAT, became upset when he refused to pay her P3,500 which they had previously agreed upon.
Investigators handling the case discovered conflicting statements from the victim, including CCTV footage showing the woman and her accuser dining together in a restaurant during the time of the alleged rape.
The woman claimed she was forced to drink liquor by Mr. Lee and his accomplices, who then lured her to a hotel and raped her. After they finished, she was able to escape and hurried home to seek the aid of her parents.
