The Subic Waterfront next to where big ships dock is a long stretch of a sandy beach. Over the years it has been filled up with eateries, restaurants, bars and several lodges of different standards. A stage area attracts live bands of an evening on set days of the week, and the visitor numbers are substantial, especially on the weekends.
Visitors come regularly and often from as far away as Manila, and Clark is an easy ride away. The upgrading of the Clark International airport will bring in thousands of people lucky to be discovering the delights of different places, including Subic Bay and Zambales.
It is always good to have a comfortable, well-placed, well-established, well-staffed and friendly hangout in the midst of all the explorations and adventures, centered in the heart of a thriving and exciting arena.
At the far end of the beach going north-west is a sandy spit with a magic ambiance long established over 10 years as The Lighthouse Marina Resort. It is a ‘must visit’ for a chill-out in their restaurant, or for time to be spent in their classic bar encircled in and surrounding the ground floor of their very own built grand lighthouse.
It lies close to the sea with fantastic views across Subic Bay and beyond Grande Island into the open sea, with the mountains to the north of the bay as the spectacular backdrop to dusks and the setting sun. Those fortunate enough to be staying the night are treated to a place tastefully laid out with décor and artwork which warms the spirit and the soul. The eating area has massive glass walls, so whether inside or outside the surrounding warm ambiance of the place can be absorbed while eating a fine meal.
An outside swimming pool is one choice for those who want to take a dip and cool off. If it is a conference venue for dozens of people that is being sought after, or a meeting room for a company get-together, then the Lighthouse Marina Resort has various choices to suit the appropriate occasions.
Out on the beach area the Lighthouse has a number of different small sailing dinghies, and they offer courses for people who are keen enough to wish to ‘tune in to nature’ and learn to sail. After all, in this modern world when everyone is blinkered by cellphones, laptops and computer screens thereby cut off from all else that is going on around them, it is a ‘wake-up’ call to learn to sail.
On the open water one has to be totally aware of all that is going on around you so that you can ‘tune in to nature’ and get your sail boat moving in the right direction to head on to your chosen destination. This idea of ‘learning to sail’ is an ideal balancing act and an experience to make one aware of all around you, before you dive back in to the high tech world of screen focusing, and deliberately tune out of all else that is happening around you. Nature is in charge when you are in a sailing boat and one has to follow her calling by keen observations of wind direction and much else besides. The Lighthouse Marina Resort gives you this worthwhile and highly exciting opportunity … so go get a life – go sailing!
Back in the hotel it is time to have a hot bath, flick on the massive flat TV screen, order a meal, have a sip of a favored beverage, relax out in the open spaces or in the bar, flip through a magazine, or read a book in the comfortable chill out places around the property. Time to hide away in your chosen room, get on your balcony and if you have chosen your timings well, watch a spectacular sunset across Subic Bay, as the sun slips down behind the majestic hill tops on the far side. Critical to all time spent at the hotel is good service, and if the need is there, the well-trained, helpful and friendly staff are always close at hand, and make staying easy.
This resort is in many ways a treat, and a home-away-from-home on several levels. All in all, The Lighthouse Marina Resort is a place that will be forever locked in your memories, and never be forgotten if you have made time enough to get away from life’s normal routines. Before your next visit, go well, stay well, and continue to enjoy life’s journey.
