Annually, those folks with permanent resident ACR cards have to register at the Immigration office. It was easy to do until last year when we had a mess trying to fill out those 4 page forms, getting pictures and finger prints.
This year the forst I heard was that we had to fill out those forms again and you had to do it online. That upset me but when I went on line , pulled up the form the first thing I saw was that only those who did not fill out the forms last year had to fill out the 2015 form. OK, the next day I sent the Mrs to Marquee Mall to check this out. An official there told her that we all had to fill it out, whether we did so last year or not.
Next morning, two friends came in the stable and told me that it was a piece of cake, just show your ACR and the transaction was completed in minutes. The computer showed that their forms were completed last year. Hey, great, back to the way it used to be.
Next day, I went with the Mrs, got our number, when called she went to the window. Oh, oh, I saw her talking to the official and saw him giving her a form. I struggled out of my seat ready to go to war. Turns out the computer showed my 2014 payment but not the info from the 4 page form. I am upset but the official was super nice and said that some clerk must have not coded it correctly last year. So, we sat down and filled out the form, real easy and quick, returned it, cleared and paid the fee. Believe it or not, today I took my son to register and same situation but the official remembered me and he filled out the form for us.
BOTTOM LINE: just take you ACR card and as long as you filled out the form last year, it is routine. But, if it was not recorded, be prepared to fill out the one page form. Take your passport with you just in case as that is the info they are asking for. You have no idea what to expect until you get there.
The Immigration office is open until 1730 hrs.
