Ranked #2 out of 6 on my list of favorite DHG (Doll House Group) is Ponytails, located between checkpoint and ABC Hotel on Perimeter road.
Ponyails is a class 4 bar (medium-large) with a central stage and a fast pool table in the back. Once in the door, sitting parallel to the length of the stage should be your preferred choice - which means you'll need to hang an immediate left, or trot over to the following side. Sitting on the right side means that you'll get some of the dancers on the end of the stage, usually 2 or 3, watching themselves in the mirror. The pillars that take up space in the stage are a bit of a bummer, because if you're sitting on the short end you will have an obstructed view. Sitting on the far left wall (when walking in, far left) is like sitting in the dark and you will have the worst view in the entire bar. The girls are usually pretty energetic and will gesture to one another and call to you, play some cute games eyeballing you and smiling while pointing to their friends for you to have a drink (as if they are in charge), so you get decent level of engagement.
Former manager Fred used to be a mainstay near the bar area, and current manager "C" runs a tight ship. There is a plethora of hotties working here, and it has been a nice stomping ground over the years. Gretchen, a former superstar, was grabbed up and taken abroad. Trixie, whom I last saw at Wild Orchid in Subic in October 2013, is like a pinball machine that never runs out of quarters. You'll find her reviewed on just about every board in town. Teresa from Bicol is still around, Ai - a Korean favorite, has a incredible hourglass shape and Bugs Bunny teeth that will get'cha, but she's often too lazy or too work-released to be found.
These are some of the friendliest girls in the DHG if you ask me, and you'll enjoy being able to take the time to talk with them without the strain of having a waitress hover over you like Mike Tyson at a beauty pageant. Cristy "Rist" has been Line'ing me since August with the typical "hi's, hello's, and how are u's" despite my lack of response - and she's a total doll. In terms of quality there are lots of 7's and 8's, maybe a couple 9's if you're still sober.
This is a great place to start your barhopping expedition for more than one reason. First off, the location is centered between the upper Perimeter Road bars and the lower ones. It's also just a few minute walk to Fields Avenue. It's open early in the day and you can find some of the varsity squad on the first shift before the locusts swarm in. It's not a bad place to pop in late-late at night either because some of the best ones slip through the cracks. Middle of the night though, it can be a meat market and you'll be sitting short-end with about 3-4 clear ladies in view.
I covered the Miss Ponytails Swimsuit Party in the August newsletter, you can click over to check out the wet t-shirt costumes.
