I learned tonight that the 2014 Hot Air Balloon Festival will be held from 24 to 27 April at Clark. It had recently been announced that the very popular balloon festival was cancelled by the operator of the Festival.
DOT Regional III Director Ronnie Tiotuico informed me that he has received approval to organize the Festival under the auspices of the Dept. of Tourism. Many years ago the Balloon Festival was initially organized and produced by the Region III Dept of Tourism and was held at the OMNI grounds at Clark.
Director Ronnie said that too many people and businessmen were disappointed when they learned that the Festival had been cancelled and he was determined to keep the tradition alive. He expects 30 Balloonists to participate and this time there will be entertainment as well as various rides. Additionally, the hours will be extended to 9 PM.
This is the way the Festival was run in the first few years when it was much more fun to attend. Now I am looking forward to this annual event which, thanks to Director Tiotuico, will not be allowed to die off.
