IT IS NO LONGER A RUMOR: THE BIG "40" BARS MEETING - A meeting was called in the offices of the City Director. Again Alex Cauguiran chaired this meeting. 40 Bars were requested to attend as Bar Owners or the Licensee. Only 11 showed up! Needless to say, Alex was not amused. In Fact, He was profoundly perturbed at the non attendance citing that personal invitations were distributed by City Hall staff to those 40 Bars that are being considered as those that will obtain License to operate next year. There was a reprieve, so to speak. That this 40 Bar Only project may be deferred until January 2015 after City Hall had received several notice's of complaint from various landowners (landlords). The meeting was attended by only 11 representatives. They were: 6 Korean Owners, 1 Australian, 1 German and 3 Filipino (licensee's). Alex repeated that several more Bars will be closed over the next 6 weeks because of non compliance, either with CIDG or City Ordinance requirements. The attendees took the CIDG remark to mean RAIDS. When Alex was asked about Raids and the reasoning behind them he simply responded "BARFINE NON-COMPLIANCE. HUMAN TRAFFICKING".
Towards the end of the meeting 2 women wearing DSWD uniforms and 1 Male wearing a CIDG uniform entered the meeting, sat down and visually scoured the room. The CIDG man whispered something into the ear of Alex that only drew an affirmative nod of the head from Alex. The meeting was adjourned at 11am with further notice of another City Hall meeting in the very near future at a time to be advised by invitation. (Blessed be those anointed ones who are special invitees. They must be the ones with the big purse strings. The presence of the CIDG representative probably resulted with him sitting down with Alex after the meeting to review the list to see who did not attend. Needless to say, the CIDG will be making notes for future reference.)
