UFC 200 – Cormier Vs. Jones 2
Sunday, July 10th at 10 AM.
“Styles make fights,” is a catchphrase often muttered by MMA pundits. If that’s the case, UFC 200 should be one of the best fight cards to date. Here’s a preview:
Main Event | Cormier (C) Vs. Jones (IC) | Light-Heavyweight 205 lbs.
Former champion Jones came back from his felony hit-and-run charge with a win against Ovince Saint Preux after more than a year off and earned an interim title. Meanwhile, the scrappy Cormier is making his first title defense since October 2015 when he earned the belt with a win over Alexander Gustafsson. Winner: Ring rust could be a factor, but the edge goes to Jones for his reach advantage. Jones by decision.
Co-Main Event | Lesnar Vs. Hunt | Heavyweight 265 lbs.
WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar has not fought in the UFC since 2011. Lesnar is facing heavy handed Mark Hunt - who has fought just about every heavyweight over the last 8-years. Expect this to be a short fight, as both of these guys will be head hunting one another. Winner: Hunt in the first round via knockout.
Interim Featherweight Title | Aldo Vs. Edgar | Lightweight 145 lbs.
This is the match-up people have been wanting for years. Recently dethroned lightweight champion Jose Aldo will look to regain his form and earn a rematch with nemesis Conor McGregor. On the other side, Frankie Edgar’s tenacity, along with his iron chin and unlimited power supply should make this a battle for the ages. Winner: Aldo by TKO.
Lesnar, along with Jones, previously appeared in the pay-per-view record setting UFC 100, the latter of which was the main event. Don’t miss UFC 201 on July 31st featuring Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler vs. Tyrone Woodley, and Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson is set to defend his title against up-and-coming Brazilian star Wilson Reis.
